PREPARATION FOR YOUR AIRBRUSH TAN

We cannot overstress the importance of pre-session exfoliation. Prep your skin with a soap-free scrub before your tanning session. Soap residue can prevent the tan from penetrating evenly on the skin and causes the tan to look “blotchy” as it fades. A pre-session exfoliation treatment can me made by combining baking soda & a non-moisturizing body wash onto loofah/scrub gloves & massaging it into each body part in a circular motion.

Removing dry, dead skin cells will prevent an uneven application of the sunless solution and will improve your tanning results. Avoid using any moisturizing soap/body wash prior to your sunless tanning application. Be sure to wash off any hair conditioner residue from your body as well (with soap). Waxing & shaving should be completed at least 24-hours prior to sunless tanning. It is important that the skin is free from perspiration, make-up, deodorants, oils, lotion and perfume. Wear loose fitting dark clothing & shoes to your tanning session as a small amount of the cosmetic bronzer may rub off and will be more visible on light colored fabric. Tight clothing can rub or smear bronzers, especially around the knees, elbows & waist. Avoid wearing jewelry during & for a few hours after your tanning session. We allow you to dress to your personal comfort level, most choose to wear dark undergarments or a bathing suit. Wearing wool, nylon or silk is not recommended. Drawstring waist bottoms, button up shirts & over-sized hoodies work best to keep the tanning process from being interrupted. JEANS, LEGGINGS, OR OTHER TIGHT FITTING CLOTHING IS NOT ADVISED TO BE PUT ON AFTER YOUR TAN HAS BEEN APPLIED.

THE TANNING PROCESS & MAINTENANCE

The airbrush tanning application process usually takes around 10 minutes. For best results, we recommend 2 sessions within 7 days to achieve desired color. Your tan should last 5 to 7 days depending on your skin type and at home care. Avoid water & sweating for at least 4-hours. Shower after 16-hours using only a mild pH balancing shower gel. If you must shower before 16-hours, use a warm water rinse only. Cosmetic instant bronzers will wash away during your first shower. While your tan is developing, wear loose fitting dark clothing. Do not sit on or wear light colored material. Avoid rubbing the face or other parts of the body. The tan will not take on areas of the body where skin meets skin. The body utilizes energy while sleeping so if tan is left on overnight you will receive the optimal results from the tanning agents for a longer lasting tan. After showering, pat skin dry and moisturize immediately. Keep your skin well hydrated by applying moisturizer and/or tan extender after showering & before bed to prolong your tan. Bar soaps, alcohol based products such as toners and astringents or products that exfoliate such as anti-aging, anti-acne, etc. Make sure that you shave with a sharp razor to avoid exfoliating skin. Pools, hot tubs & even extended time in the ocean can cause your tan to fade.
